Golfer Lorena Ochoa to Wed Next Month

MEXICO CITY – Mexican golfer Lorena Ochoa will tie the knot on Dec. 4 with airline executive Andres Conesa in a family ceremony in her native Guadalajara, the press reported on Thursday.

“We decided that our wedding would be relatively small, intimate, at night and in a pretty place in Guadalajara. I am really looking forward to getting married in the place where I was born and where my family lives,” said Lorena in the Mexican edition of the magazine Hola!

Lorena will participate this weekend in the LPGA tournament in South Korea and then will play in Japan, in Guadalajara and in Houston to close out a season of ups and downs in which she hopes to stay in the number one spot among professional women golfers.

After the season is over, she will go on vacation and the first order of business will be to marry Conesa.

In the interview with Hola!, the couple revealed that they met in September 2007 and that in December 2008, in Barcelona, Conesa gave her an engagement ring hidden inside the book “En la Catedral del Mar” (“Cathedral of the Sea”), by Ildefonso Falcones.

“We were in Barcelona. I had read a book that I had liked a lot and since it’s big enough to hide a ring in, I decided to do that,” the Aeromexico chief said.

Hola! said the honeymoon will be in a spot very far from Mexico, which Lorena does not yet know because her fiance has been keeping it a secret.

“Certainly it will become known before Dec. 4 because she has to pack, but not (too much) earlier,” the groom-to-be said. EFE
