SAN SALVADOR – Two teenagers were killed and four other people wounded when unidentified individuals threw a bomb at them earlier this weekend in Cojutepeque, a city in central El Salvador, the National Civilian Police, or PNC, said.
The victims were in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant when the attack occurred on Friday, a PNC spokesman said.
The two boys killed in the attack, one 14 and the other 17, sustained “multiple wounds” in the blast and died before they could be treated at a hospital in Cojutepeque, located 33 kilometers (about 21 miles) east of San Salvador.
Another minor was among the four people wounded in the attack, the PNC spokesman said.
Investigators have not determined who was behind the attack or what the motive was.
Authorities are trying to deal with a crime wave in El Salvador, which is registering between 10 and 12 murders a day.
