CARACAS – At least 10 people died and four others were injured early Sunday when the bus in which they were riding plunged off a bridge in the north-central Venezuelan state of Aragua, emergency services officials said.

The accident occurred on the El Parrillal bridge in the town of San Sebastian, about 140 kilometers (87 miles) south of Caracas, when the minibus carrying the 14 people went off the bridge.

Nine people died at the scene and another succumbed to injuries at the hospital in San Juan de los Morros, about 170 kilometers (105 miles) south of the capital.

Four people survived, among them a child, but authorities have not yet identified them or said what their injuries are.

On Saturday, at least 14 people were killed and 38 others injured when a bus and a car collided on a highway in western Venezuela, emergency services officials in the Andean state of Tachira said.

The accident happened Saturday morning in El Cambur, located some 600 kilometers (373 miles) west of Caracas, on the highway that links the western states of Barinas and Tachira.

Police are trying to identify the 14 people killed in the crash, said emergency services officials in San Cristobal, a city in Tachira located about 816 kilometers (507 miles) west of Caracas.

The 38 injured people were taken to public and private hospitals in San Cristobal and Santa Barbara de Barinas, located some 662 kilometers (411 miles) west of Caracas, the officials said.
