Singer Juanes and Wife Welcome Third Child

WASHINGTON – The wife of Colombian crooner Juanes gave birth to the couple’s third child on the weekend, a boy they have named Dante, the singer said on his Twitter social networking account.

“Happiness, happiness, happiness! Dante’s birth went very well, he’s healthy and beautiful! Thank God for this blessing!” wrote Juanes Saturday to the almost 49,000 people who follow his activities, both personal and professional, on the Web site.

Juanes, who is a frequent Twitter user, wrote about the arrival of his first son in messages he started sending about four hours before the actual birth.

“Here we are! For the moment listening to his little heart with a monitor. It has groove, it has rhythm, it has flow!” said the artist, whose popular numbers include “A Dios le pido” and “La camisa negra.”

Later, he sent the following message: “We’re going to get this game started, says the nurse. Karen and I look at each other and smile with happiness.”

The 36-year-old Juanes and his wife, Colombian actress Karen Martinez, have two daughters – Luna and Paloma – and live with them in Miami.

The performer had already notified his Twitter contacts that their third child probably would be born this weekend.

In an interview with the magazine People en Español several months ago, Juanes said that he had liked the name Dante since he read “The Divine Comedy,” by Dante Alighieri.
