BARCELONA – Popular Spanish trumpet player Rudy Ventura died on Thursday after a long illness, relatives said. He was 82.
Jaume Ventura Andreu was a very popular face on the music scene, along with the members of his group, at the end of the 1950s and early ‘60s.
In addition to playing the trumpet, Ventura was also the singer with one of the most popular orchestras of that epoch.
Among the records he put out, several stand out in particular, including “Mundial de hits” (1968) and “Ball del Estatut” (1980).
Ventura’s funeral will be held Friday in Barcelona.
The performer was also closely associated with the Barcelona soccer club, to which he dedicated several of his numbers. EFE
