MADRID – FC Barcelona’s Barça Innovation Hub and the Israeli technology company Pixellot presented on Tuesday during the “World Football Summit” forum an automatic football recording camera and statistics formulator designed for use in farm clubs.

The device, Pixellot Air, consists of a camera that is located in any football field or training facility and can record up to 13 hours without the need for a camera operator, and records game statistics and analytics automatically.

“What you get is the entire match produced and also all the statistics. You can have match data, heat maps, as if it were a professional match, for any football academy,” said Pixellot CEO Alon Werber during a round table on video analysis applied to football.

Imanol Eguskiza, Barcelona’s Barça Innovation Hub project manager, told the forum that they have been testing these devices with several teams from the club’s academies over the past year.

“They showed us some units to test them and we helped them develop the project. We selected some functionalities and told them others that they had to have to adapt to our farm teams,” Eguskiza said.

Barcelona produces each season more than 130 terabytes of information related to the tactical and statistical analysis of their teams, not only football but also basketball and futsal, which they manage thanks to Pixellot technology.

The use of technologies for automatic recording and data extraction of matches will have “many applications to promote ‘fan engagement,’” explained the Artificial Intelligence executive of the company Stats Perform, Paul Powe, in the virtual forum “WFS Live” organized by the World Football Summit this week.
