MADRID – Real Madrid confirmed the signing of Japan midfielder Takefusa Kubo for Castilla on its official website on Friday.
Kubo joined Madrid from Japan’s first division team FC Tokyo, with which he made 16 appearances this season and scored five goals.
“The top level of the madridista academy is set to get their hands on one of the most promising youngsters in world football,” the club wrote in a statement.
“A technically gifted and hugely talented attacking midfielder, he possess wonderful vision, quick feet and has an eye for goal,” it added.
Despite being only 18 years old, Kubo has had the opportunity to make his international debut in his national team’s 2-0 friendly win over El Salvador at Hitomebore Stadium Miyagi on June 9.
