Athletic Bilbao’s Raul Garcia Rejoins Team Training Ahead of Atletico Duel

BILBAO, Spain – Athletic Bilbao’s Spanish midfielder Raul Garcia rejoined on Thursday the team training ahead of the upcoming La Liga game against Atletico Madrid, after recovering from an injury he sustained recently.

Although Garcia sprained his left ankle during the first half of Athletic’s 1-0 defeat to Espanyol on Monday, he was able to complete the game but left the stadium using crutches.

“Raul has trained with everybody else and we hope he’ll be in best shape for Saturday,” his teammate Markel Susaeta said. “Over all these years, he has provided many things: character, goals and good performance. We know how important he is for us.”

Athletic is set to miss Spanish defender Yeray Alvarez over injury and Spanish midfielder Dani Garcia for suspension after he was shown his fifth yellow card of the season against Espanyol.
