MILWAUKEE – Venezuelan first baseman Jesus Aguilar hit a home run in the seventh inning to take the Milwaukee Brewers to a 6-5 win against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series at Miller Park on Friday.
With the win, the Brewers took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.
It was the 12th straight win for Milwaukee, one short of the franchise record set to open the 1987 season.
Brandon Woodruff, who also struck a home run in the third inning off Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw, became the third reliever to hit a homer in the postseason.
The Brewers relief pitcher (1-0) struck out four batters in two innings to take the win.
Kershaw (1-0), who pitched three innings, allowed five runs on six hits (including a home run) and two walks while striking out two batters, to take the loss.
Game 2 will be played at the same venue on Saturday.
