Batshuayi Joins Valencia CF on Loan

VALENCIA, Spain – Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi will join Valencia CF on loan from Chelsea until the end of the 2018-2019 season, the two clubs said on Friday.

The agreement includes an option for the La Liga side to make the transfer permanent.

Batshuayi, 24, part of the Belgian team that won the bronze medal at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, joined the Blues in the summer of 2016, but spent the second half of last season on loan to Borussia Dortmund.

The Belgium forward is Valencia’s sixth acquisition of the summer transfer window, following Geoffrey Kondogbia, Uros Racic, Cristiano Piccini, Mouctar Diakhaby and Daniel Wass.

Coach Marcelino Garcia Toral revealed during a press conference on Friday that the club is looking to acquire three more attacking players in addition to Batshuayi.

Valencia has been in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain on a permanent deal for Portuguese winger Gonçalo Guedes, who spent last season with the Spanish club on loan from PSG.
