BOGOTA One policeman was killed and six others injured in four coordinated attacks carried out by FARC dissidents in the southwestern department of Cauca, authorities said on Tuesday.
A motorcycle loaded with bombs exploded in the municipality of Padilla, killing one police officer and injuring three others.
At about 9:40 on Monday night (0240 GMT Tuesday) a motorcycle that had been parked very close to the police station exploded. The town is dismayed because these things have never occurred here. The community turned to the hospital to verify the state of health of the police officers, Mayor Victor Hugo Vidal told reporters.
The victim was identified as Superintendent Edier Burbano, commander of the Padilla police station.
The official source indicated that Burbano and the injured three found an abandoned motorcycle behind the police station. It exploded when they proceeded to move the vehicle.

At the same time, another attack occurred in the municipality of Santander de Quilichao, where a motorcycle also exploded in front of the facilities of the Registry department.
A third motorcycle exploded on the same day in the afternoon near the police and fire stations of the municipality of Corinto, injuring an officer in a nearby police box, according to Corinto mayor Edward Garcia.
