Barça’s New Defender Lenglet: It’s the Chance of a Lifetime

BARCELONA – French center-back Clement Lenglet was presented to the public on Friday as Barcelona’s newest player and said that he sees playing for Barça to be the chance of a lifetime.

Lenglet, coming from a year with Sevilla, signed a contract until June 2023 and with a buy-out clause of 300 million euros (about $350 million).

“I’m very happy and very proud to have come to such a great club,” the 23-year-old Lenglet said.

The presentation took place in Auditorium 1899 of the Camp Nou, where the French defender was accompanied by Barcelona Vice President Jordi Mestre and Technical Secretary Eric Abidal.

Abidal, a former Barça great, explained that Clement plays the ball with ease and patience, while also being tactically strong.

Lenglet discussed his compatriot and new Barça teammate Samuel Umtiti, adding that he looks forward to learn from the more experienced center-back Umtiti.
