Charlyn Corral to Lead Mexican Team in Barranquilla 2018

MEXICO CITY Ė Striker Charlyn Corral, last seasonís top scorer from Levante UD soccer club, will lead the Mexico womenís national soccer team to defend the title in the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla, Colombia.

The Mexican Football Federation confirmed on Thursday the list of players selected for the Mexico womenís national soccer team by coach Roberto Medina, which comprises various star players, including Atletico Madridís defender Kenti Robles from Spanish league La Liga, as well as five other prominent players from the US soccer league.

Mexico expects to win more than 100 gold medals in this regional sports tournament, held from July 19 to Aug. 3, and aims to seal two golds from the menís and womenís soccer competition.

In the group stage of the womenís soccer competition, Mexico will compete with Trinidad and Tobago on July 20, Haiti on July 22 and Nicaragua on July24.

The Mexico womenís soccer team beat Colombia 2-0 in the final of the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz, so the goal in this season is to defend the title, according to coach Medina.
