ATLANTA – The Atlanta Braves held off a late comeback from the Toronto Blue Jays Wednesday night to win 9-5 at SunTrust Park in Atlanta.
The Braves led 7-0 going into the seventh inning, when Devon Travis struck a home run with the bases loaded, as Toronto scored five runs to make things interesting. It was Travis’ third career grand slam.
Ozzie Albies had hit the first of two home runs by that point, and scored the second in the eighth inning to keep Toronto at bay.
Mike Foltynewicz (7-5) pitched 6 2/3 scoreless innings for the braves, allowing six hits and two homers and five runs.
Starter Sam Gaviglio (2-3) took the loss in one inning and two thirds, conceding six hits and six runs.
