Thousands of Animals, People Visit the Great Yorkshire Show

HARROGATE – Thousands of people flocked on Tuesday to the countryside near Harrogate, a town in the north of England, to attend the first day of the 160th edition of the Great Yorkshire Show, an agriculture event that offers visitors a chance to see everything from cattle shows to the latest fashion designs.

More than 8,500 animals are to compete for 272 trophies throughout the three-day event, which is attended by around 130,000 people annually.

“In the judging rings, thousands of animals compete from cattle to sheep, pigs to pigeons and the show finishes with one of the most prestigious show jumping classes in the country, the Cock O’The North competition,” said organizers on the show’s website.
