JERUSALEM Ė The United States presidentís senior advisor and son-in-law will visit Israel by the end of next week, along with the US representative for international negotiations, to examine the situation in Gaza and discuss the US peace plan, a spokesperson for the US embassy in Israel told EFE on Wednesday.
The visit by Jared Kushner and Jason Greenblatt is expected to be boycotted by Palestinian leaders, Palestinian sources confirmed to EFE.
Kushner and Greenblatt are to head to Israel, Saudi Arabia and Egypt to discuss a new peace plan for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, which the US plans to present in the near future, according to local media.
The moribund peace process, which has been suspended since 2014, was dealt a further setback in December when US President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israelís capital, at which point the Palestinians disqualified Washington as the sole mediator in the peace process.
Palestinians see East Jerusalem, which was occupied by Israel during the 1967 Six-Day War and later annexed, as the capital of their future state.
