England’s Squad Arrives in Russia for World Cup, Rashford’s Status Unclear

ST. PETERSBURG, Russia – The English national soccer team flew from Birmingham, England, to St. Petersburg, Russia, on Tuesday, arriving with injured forward Marcus Rashford, and then traveled by bus to the Russian town of Repino.

Located 48 kilometers (30 miles) from St. Petersburg, Repino is to be the home base for the “Three Lions” team for the duration of this year’s World Cup.

England’s head coach, Gareth Southgate, discussed Manchester United’s Rashford, saying that the 20-year-old soccer star is to undergo tests on Wednesday to see if he will be able to play in the team’s debut World Cup match against Tunisia on Monday.

England, which won the World Cup 52 years ago in 1966, is set to compete in Group G against Tunisia, Belgium and Panama.
