Casillas Renews for 1 Season with Porto

LISBON – Porto on Thursday announced the renewal of Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas for one more season, which will be his fourth year with the team.

Both the club and the player confirmed the news on their social media accounts: “One more season!” Casillas wrote on his Instagram account, along with a photo of him next to the Porto logo.

The renewal had been revealed earlier on Thursday by Portuguese media, which said that the goalkeeper agreed to remain with Porto in exchange for a salary reduction that was not specified.

Casillas, 36, has said on multiple occasions that he is very well-adjusted in Porto, Portugal, where his club just won the Portuguese Primeira Liga.

This season Casillas has played in 31 games between the Primeira Liga, the Portuguese Cup, the League Cup and the Champions League.
