BEIJING – China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi will make a state visit to Argentina this month where he will attend the Meeting of G20 Foreign Ministers, official sources announced on Friday.
Wang will arrive in Argentina as part of a tour that will also take him to France, Spain and Portugal between May 16-24, foreign ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said at press conference.
In addition to participating in the foreign ministers’ meeting on May 20, Wang will hold talks with counterparts to discuss bilateral and international issues.
He will meet with Argentina’s President Mauricio Macri and Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie, with whom he will hold in-depth discussions on bilateral relations and cooperation, said Geng.
Wang is also expected to discuss with them preparations for the G20 leaders’ summit in Buenos Aires from Nov. 30 to Dec. 1.
Geng said as well as currently holding the G20 presidency, Argentina is an important emerging market and an important ally of China.
