CANCUN, Mexico – Thirteen French tourists were injured when their bus overturned near this resort city, Mexico’s Federal Police said.
The accident occurred around 1:40 pm Sunday as the bus, carrying 18 French nationals, left Cancun on an excursion to the Riviera Maya.
The driver apparently fled the scene, police said.
Injured passengers were taken to hospitals in Cancun and Playa del Carmen.
None of the passengers was seriously hurt, according to the Quintana Roo state tourism department, which said that French consular authorities were attending to their citizens.
A dozen people died and 15 others were injured last December when a bus carrying tourists from the United States, Canada and Italy flipped over en route to an archaeological site in the Yucatan peninsula.
