WASHINGTON – The digital currency Bitcoin hit $10,000 for the first time on Tuesday, after multiplying its value by 10 since the beginning of 2017. According to cryptocurrency digital platforms, Luxembourg-based Bitstamp and Coindesk, Bitcoin has reached $10,300, rising by more than four percent compared to Monday. The virtual currency has experienced a boom in value since the beginning of 2017 when it was trading around $1,000, and has risen over 50 percent since October. Some analysts pointed out that the value of this virtual currency might rise to between $11,500 and $14,000 during 2018, while others have warned the cryptocurrency could prove to be a market bubble. |
