BEIJING – Chinese authorities confirmed on Monday two people were still missing after a recent explosion at a factory in the eastern Chinese city of Ningbo that killed at least two.
The explosion on Sunday had also injured around 19, four of whom are in a serious condition, according to state-owned Xinhua agency.
While the exact cause of the incident is yet unknown, firemen found a large pothole at the incident spot and suspect it could have been the exact point where the explosion occurred.
Visuals from state-owned CCTV channel showed the strength of the explosion that had severely damaged several buildings and cars in the neighborhood.
Factory accidents are common in industrial areas in China.
In August 2015, the eastern port city of Tianjin witnessed one of the worst explosions in the country in recent years in which 123 people died and more than 600 were injured.
