Star Wars Trailer Feeds Expectation Prior to Episode VIII Christmas Release (VIDEO)

LOS ANGELES – The latest promotional installment of the Star Wars franchise released on Tuesday promises that the new movie, “The Last Jedi,” will be a galactic-sized clash between both sides of The Force, or good versus evil.

On the dark side there is Kylo Ren, played by American actor Adam Driver, and on the side of the Light, Rey, interpreted by English actress Daisy Ridley.

“When I found you, I saw war, untamed power and beyond that, something truly special,” the trailer announces some two months before the film’s scheduled release in time for Christmas.

Over 8 million views in less than 10 hours give an idea of the expectation the eighth episode of this saga has generated among filmgoers.

A previous long-range teaser released in April has already been watched 41.2 million times.

With this new promotional release, even the film’s director has jumped into the tease-game with contradictory messages to the Star Wars fans.

Director Rian Johnson was asked by a fan on his Twitter account if he should watch the new trailer and got the following response: “I a(m) legitimately torn. If you want to come in clean, absolutely avoid it.”

But, hours later he contradicted himself by posting a message that read, “Forget everything I said and watch it, watch it, watch it.”

Apparently, everybody will have to wait until the film’s Dec. 15 worldwide release to make their mind up and decide if Johnson has managed to explore deeper into the Force’s division, the main theme behind the Star Wars epic – space opera – that Georges Lucas dreamt in a faraway galaxy, long, long ago, back in 1977.

“This is not going to go the way you think,” the trailer promises.

Meanwhile, Rey calls out to Star Wars fans, “I need someone to show me my place in all this.”
