ISTANBUL – Great performances by Luka Doncic and Goran Dragic powered Slovenia to a 103-97 victory on Tuesday over Latvia in the battle for a spot in the 2017 EuroBasket final against reigning champions Spain.
In a game where neither team showed much interest in defending, the Latvians led 55-50 at half-time.
But Dragic – who finished with 26 points – and Doncic, contributing 27, led the second-half comeback for the Balkan squad.
Kristaps Porzingis put up 34 points for Slovenia but in the end, the lack of a supporting cast left him no match for the combination of Doncic and Dragic.
The Slovenes are headed to Thursday’s final against Spain, which won 84-72 over Germany in the other semifinal.
Spain was led by Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol with 28 points.
