SANTO DOMINGO – Authorities seized on Wednesday 860 bricks of what appears to be cocaine at a house in Juan Dolio, a resort city in the eastern Dominican Republic, and arrested an unidentified foreigner, the DNCD drug enforcement agency said.
The investigation is continuing and other people may be involved, the drug enforcement agency said in a statement.
Officials found two firearms, a number of caplets and cell phones inside the house.
The drugs were sent to the National Forensic Sciences Institute for identification and determination of the total weight, while the suspect remains in police custody.
“Coordination among the armed forces, National Police and other national security and intelligence agencies has led to substantial seizures from drug trafficking organizations that attempt to use the country for illegal activities,” the DNCD said.
