SHANGHAI – Disney’s $5.5 billion Shanghai theme park and resort announced on Friday that it had welcomed over 10 million visitors, becoming the most popular theme park in China.
The park, which will celebrate its one year anniversary on June 16, also said it will hold month-long celebrations with special decorations and various activities.
During its nearly year-long operation, the park has hired over 10,000 employees and generated thousands of other jobs for tourism and cultural industry professionals.
The 3.9 square kilometers (1.5 square miles) theme park is the second largest park built by Disney in China after the one in Hong Kong, and its sixth in the world.
The company also has two parks in the United States, one in France and another in Japan.
