MEXICO CITY – Six men kidnapped earlier this week in the southern Mexican state of Guerrero were found dead on Wednesday, authorities said.
The bodies were discovered on the Mazatlan-El Salado highway inside the city limits of Chilpancingo, the state capital.
Investigators confirmed that the bodies belonged to the men abducted Monday in the village of Chacotla, Guerrero’s attorney general told a press conference.
Two women who had been grabbed along with the six men were released, but they are still “in shock” and have been unable to aid the investigation, Xavier Olea said.
The eight captives, including two minors, were originally taken by armed attackers traveling in four pickup trucks.
