LONDON – Prince Harry, grandson of Queen Elizabeth II, regretted that he has not spoken before about the impact of the death of his mother, Diana, who died when he was 12, British media reported on Monday.
Asked by Rio Ferdinand, former player of England, about the impact of her death, Prince Harry replied “I really regret not ever talking about it.”
The prince, 31, was speaking as he hosted an event for Heads Together, a mental health charity he created in cooperation with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The BBC reported that the youngest son of the princess remained silent about his loss “until three years ago.”
Diana died in a car crash in Paris on Aug. 31, 1997 with her friend Dodi Fayed.
Ferdinand, who lost his wife last year due to cancer, said the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II has gone through various phases, which are now being felt by his own three children.
