LA PAZ – Bolivian President Evo Morales is recovering from an operation on ligaments in his knee that he underwent in early June, but he cannot yet walk on his own and does his daily hour of rehabilitation therapy in bed, his physical therapist, Giovanna Meruvia, said on Thursday.
Meruvia told reporters that Morales is working on his muscular recovery “in bed because he cannot stand due to the grafts” doctors put in place during the operation.
“(The president) is very disciplined. He’s doing his exercises and that musculature, which is the quadriceps, which supports the entire knee, is being very well maintained,” she added.
The physical therapist said reporters would have to ask the doctors when Morales would be able to take his first steps after the operation he underwent on June 8, and she did not specify how long he would have to recover before returning to his normal activities.
