QUITO -- Ecuador's government says it raised over $760 million through its tax amnesty initiative as of 27 July.
Ecuador's government passed a bill in late April that forgave the totality of past-due interests and fines to IRS debtors who paid their pending debts until 29 July.
Going forward, the government will forgive 50% of past-due interest and fines for those debtors who pay the
IRS before the 10 of September.
Ecuador's Internal Revenue Service had initially expected to raise around $500 million through the initiative.
