Four Dead in Mexico Plane Crash

MEXICO CITY Four people, including the deputy secretary of economic development for the Mexican state of Coahuila, Francisco Garcia Castel, died in a small plane crash, officials confirmed to EFE on Thursday.

The director of Civil Protection in Coahuila, Victor Guajardo, said that the small plane crashed Wednesday night minutes after taking off from the La Encantada mine in the town of Muzquiz en route for the town of Ocampo, in the northern state of Durango.

The other three people who died were identified as Francisco Antonio and Miguel Angel Arechiga, the owners of the ARVI mining firm, and Jesus Martinez Espino.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
