Teen Charged with Making Bomb Threat at Camp Nou in Copa del Rey Final

MADRID – Spanish police charged a 17-year-old male with making a threat over social media to carry out a bomb attack at Barcelona’s Camp Nou Stadium during the final match of the Copa del Rey against Athletic Bilbao on May 30.

According to the Police Directorate General, the teenager posted several comments on his Twitter account about the sporting event, tweeting that he was preparing to detonate a bomb during the final match.

The teenager’s controversial tweets, which were published in March 25, rapidly spread on Twitter to the extent that some users urged the police monitors to investigate the comments, while the teen refused to remove the comments despite the insistence of many users.

The culprit tweeter eventually decided to delete his Twitter account for fear of being identified, but the police had already located him, after which he admitted posting the tweets.

The police charged the teenager with the crime of threatening to endanger a large number of people.
