Galaxy of U.S. and Spanish Stars to Attend San Sebastian Film Festival

SAN SEBASTIAN, Spain – A galaxy of American and Spanish film stars are to attend the upcoming San Sebastian Film Festival, event organizers announced Friday.

Among the actors, actresses and directors scheduled to appear at the fest in the northern resort city are John Malkovich, Viggo Mortensen, Willem Dafoe and Jessica Chastain.

Spanish cinema heavyweights expected at the event include director Pedro Almodovar and actor Antonio Banderas, the organizers said.

The festival announced earlier that Denzel Washington and Benito del Toro are to be awarded the Donostia Prize for their life’s work. The jury for the 62nd annual festival, which this year is to be held from Sep. 19 to 27, is to be announced next week.

U.S. director Richard Linklater is also to receive the Fipresci Award for his latest film, “Boyhood,” which follows the life of a boy from childhood through his young years and that has received rave reviews following its release in the United States.
